Middle School Vocal Camp
June 11 - 16, 2017


After several discussions with chorale educators across the state, our Foster Camp Governing Board quickly realized that there are few opportunities for Young Vocalists throughout this region. With our camps long-standing tradition of musical excellent and recent years of success we are able to provide a Middle School Vocal Camp.


Who Can Attend?
Students grades 5th-8th may attend our Middle School Vocal Camp. "Graduating" 8th graders have the option of attending Middle School Vocal Camp and/or High School Vocal Camp.


Musical Experiences
The Foster Middle School Vocal Camp provides several positive musical experiences. Students will spend an intensive week studying the various aspects of quality choral singing and performing.

Campers will sing under Laura Wilson, currently Choir Director at Strode Station Elementary in Winchester, KY. Ms. Wilson will be assisted by two outstanding music educators from Kentucky and the region it serves, who will function as male and female choral section leaders.


Our Middle School Vocal Camp Curriculum Includes:

Daily Proper Vocal Warm-Up Routine
Daily Hour Long Voice Class
Daily Master classes
Proper Breathing Techniques
Learning the Physical Anatomy of the Voice
Musicianship and Sightsinging
Proper Stage Presence
Performance Techniques (including managing anxiety or nervousness)
Vowel Formation
Collaborative Choral Ensemble
Faculty Recital

The Middle School Vocal Camp will conclude will a full concert performance by the entire Camper Concert Choir. This will be in correlation with our Middle School Camp Closing Ceremonies which will include performances by the Band and Orchestra.

We offer a strong and integrated vocal curriculum that will fits any child's ability. From beginner to advanced.... if you are interested in becoming a better vocalists, then Foster Middle School Vocal Camp is for you.

Afternoon Activities
Afternoon activities are planned each evening for the campers. Activities include, but are not limited to, tennis, soccer, basketball, swimming, kickball, softball, movies, indoor/outdoor games, board games, video game tournaments, etc. We offer several afternoon activities each evening allowing students to choose their favorites.
