Guitar Camp

Experiences:

Guitar students of all backgrounds are welcome! Participants will receive a week of intense guitar study - a serious endeavor geared toward guitarists age 13 and above. The Guitar Camp synthesizes classical, jazz, and contemporary guitar styles. Morning sessions feature technique/ theory seminars and ensemble coaching. The afternoon sessions focus on master classes and special topics. One afternoon session will introduce participants to various aspects of music technology (sequencing, hard-disk recording, and notation software: see below to learn how special topics are chosen). The participants will record a compact disc of their ensemble and solo pieces. The camp concludes with a recital by the participants.

Participants need to be thirteen years old or above to attend and should have basic familiarity with the guitar. Music will be provided in notation and tablature; and, literature will be assigned according to skill level. Group sessions and ensembles will be formed according to age and ability. Supplementary books and materials will cost approximately $20 - $30 and private lessons are $20 (30 minute lesson). Participants need to bring an acoustic guitar, metronome, extra strings, fingernail file/buffing board, picks, pencil, paper, and a footstool to the camp
